No rapport? No success. Know rapport? Know success. In today's school systems campus success is primarily gauged by test scores, and grade reports often dictate a student's level of achievement. What these numbers do not reveal is whether students have developed a love of learning or whether their teachers have cultivated a school culture centered on respect and rapport. Mastery of the curriculum is tantamount for accountability, but schools cannot simply be information hubs. Schools must be transformation grounds where teachers connect with their students on a personal level and foster trust, compassion, and grit. Let's turn this possibility to probability: it's time for schools to recalibrate and to invest in the character-building department.
