An open discussion on tying our teaching directly to the TEKS in order to increase student awareness and personal responsibility for state math standards. My own adventures (and misadventures) in changing my lessons to focus directly on each TEKS, which include determining how to best modify and accommodate for special needs while staying true to the content, will be offered as starting points for discussion and brainstorming how our teaching can and should evolve with our students' needs while assuring the opportunity to learn grade level content.
