Amber Forgey

Amber Forgey was trained at the Kansas City Art Institute, a prestigious 4 year Bachelor of Fine Arts program that has been training artists since 1885. Graduating in 2000 with a degree in Illustration, Amber went on to work as an in-house Illustrator for a publishing company in Austin creating book covers, interior book illustrations and retouching old photos. Longing for a career that felt more meaningful, Amber went back to school at Texas State and obtained her all-level art teaching certification. She began her career in Duncanville teaching middle school art in 2002 and then transitioned to high school art at Lake Travis in 2005. She's been firmly planted at Lake Travis High School teaching the advanced Drawing and Painting and AP 2D and Drawing classes since 2005. In Fall of 2023, Amber was awarded the Outstanding Art Educator- High School division-by the Texas Art Education Association. Amber presents professional development for Texas Art Education Association and the Center for Educational Development in Fine Arts (CEDFA). In her spare time, Amber teaches private art lessons to adults and students in private schools, paints people and pet portraits, enjoys traveling and watching her daughter sing. Amber has been married to fellow art teacher, Aaron Forgey since 2000 and they have a daughter studying music education at UNT.
